Assistant Swim Team Coaches



The Helen G. Nassif YMCA is seeking 2-3 Assistant Swim Coaches to work with our growing swim team program!  Previous competitive experience is necessary as well as the desire to work with children of all ages and abilities.

  1. Assist Head Coach in creating thorough, age-appropriate workouts focusing on technique, endurance, stroke development, drills, etc.;
  2. Lead structured practices in weekday evenings and/or weekend days in the spring/summer and fall/winter seasons.
  3. Help to record all work-outs and track daily attendance;
  4. Assist Head Coach with administrative matters relating to the team, swim meet arrangements and team performance as well as interaction with parents;
  5. Assist in coordinating and executing swim team competitions and meet registrations. Manage and monitor swim team members at and during team competitions;
  6. Attend assigned swim eam events such as meets, meetings, social events, etc.;
  7. Engage parents and cultivate relationships to create a collaborative swim team environment;
  8. Assist in swim team social event planning, as necessary;


  • 2+ years experience as a competitive swimmer;
  • 2+ years swim coaching experience preferred;
  • USA Swimming Coach or ASCA Level 1 and Principles of YMCA Competitive Swimming certification preferred;
  • Must be able to demonstrate proficiency of swim skills in accordance with YMCA standards and have a strong foundation in stroke mechanics and be able to communicate effectively with swimmers and their parents;
  • Enthusiastic, dynamic presence with good communication skill;
  • Certifications: CPR, AED, Basic First Aid certification or willingness to obtain;

Pay will be commensurate with experience.
