This class is a blended learning class which means that the book work will be done with a computer on your own time and the pool and CPR classroom time will take place at the YMCA. Lifeguarding reference materials are required and can be downloaded on the Red Cross website. Successful completion of this course will earn participants 2 year certifications in Lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR for Professional Rescuer, and AED administration. Each participant must pass a swimming test (300 yard swim followed by timed brick retrieval & 2 min tread w/o hands) at the beginning of the course in order to continue with the training. A schedule will be emailed out to participants that will elaborate on what is expected of them in regards to computer work and will also provide the times and days of the actual pool/CPR times. Registration fees are not refundable if swimming test is not successfully completed.
